VIOLET SERVICE OF TSARSKOE-SELO Porcelain soup plate of the violet or Tsarskoeselsky service, the marli decorated with carmine landscapes in reserves surrounded by gilded rocaille, the edge with serrated decoration. Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, Nicolas II period, 1903. Mark with the green stamp. D. 25,2 cm. History In 1903, the Korbievsky service was replaced by the purple ceremonial service planned for the Grand Palace of Tsarskoe Selo. A competition was launched by the imperial manufactory based on examples of 18th century services and in particular the Sèvres services. The winner, Emile Yakovlevich Kremer, made the designs for the 1690 pieces that will be ordered in a rocaille style. It is the last service of such a scale made by the imperial factory.
