Paris, Imprimerie Royale, 1717-1736. 10 vol. in-4, fawn calf, double gilt fillet and corner finials, crowned numeral in center, ornate ribbed spines, beige title-pieces and green tomaison, gilt edges (Rel. ép.). First edition of this collector's item. Illustrated with a frontispiece by Coypel and numerous plates. With the figure of Maria Alexandrovna of Russia (1853-1920), affixed at a later date. Daughter of Tsar Alexander II of Russia, she married Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh. Ex-libris ""Stowe library"", and ""Matilda Constance Ismay"". Rubbing, spotting and tears to bindings."
