Grace Patricia KELLY (1929-1982) Princess of Monaco A passion for flowers Collage of flowers on aluminum-colored paper, monogrammed lower right 67.5 x 52 cm Grace Kelly, film icon turned Princess of Monaco, found a soothing creative passion in dried flower collages after 1956. She picked flowers on walks in the Monegasque countryside, pressed them delicately between the pages of books, then assembled them into refined compositions: precise geometric patterns, delicate bouquets with orchids, bougainvillea, periwinkle or proteas She exhibited her work (notably at Galerie Drouant in Paris in 1977) and published My Book of Flowers (1980), in which she shared her techniques and philosophy. Her collages, signed "GPK", reveal a sensitive and meticulous artist.
