Isaachar Ryback (1897-1935) The gossips Watercolor 70 x 5O cm Born in the Ukraine, Isaachar ber Ryback began his artistic studies at the Kiev Academy of Fine Arts in 1911, before being sent to study synagogue art and architecture in Moscow by the Jewish Ethnographic Society. He settled permanently in Paris in 1926, where his studio became a meeting place for artists and intellectuals such as Chagall, Modigliani and Soutine. He then joined the Ecole de Paris, which brought together a large number of artists of Jewish origin from Eastern Europe and Russia.
