Maud Peauït has been drawing from an early age. After studying literature and Spanish at university, she turned to an apprenticeship in weaving in Lyon. From 1947 to 1952, she interrupted her studies to work as a "haute couture saleswoman" for Christian Dior, where she rubbed shoulders with leading figures from the worlds of art and business. It was at this point that she decided to take courses in art history, assiduously attending exhibitions. In 1976, she decided to work abroad and met artist Franck Fay, whom she married in Tahiti in 1982.
Maud Peauït works in rectangular, square and triangular formats. The sensation that emerges is one of stability, of solidity, which also lies in the absence of figurative motifs and in the deliberate choice of a small number of geometric figures that combine with each other.
