Rare small oval jewelry box
Crystal and two-tone gold mounting chased with friezes of four-leaf clovers alternating with small cartouches.
The obverse of the lid features an animated anticlerical scene, painted in color and watercolor, depicting a priest blessing a goat, a naked man receiving a blessing from a high-ranking clergyman and a pyramidion with Freemasonic connotations. The reverse of the lid features a second, slightly smaller animated scene, also painted in color and watercolor, depicting figures in an ancient landscape by the water and near a funerary monument.
