THAILAND, Ayutthaya, 18th century. Important Buddha head with picots. The fine, slightly smiling face is structured by slightly raised eyebrows forming an acolade. The almost protruding bridge of the nose continues this acolade. The downcast eyes are inlaid with mother-of-pearl. A truly peaceful gentleness emanates from this face. Bronze and gilding.
