AFTER JEAN DUNAND (FRANCE/ 1877-1942), WORK FROM 1950-1960 Two elephants, after Jean Dunand's 1930 composition Torn brown lacquer and silver leaf on panel Bears an apocryphal incised signature 'JEAN DUNAND' (lower right) 110 x 138 cm. The present work is a later interpretation of Jean Dunand's panel for the 1931 Exposition Coloniale. PROVENANCE Private collection, Toulouse, 1970-80s. Then by descent to the present owner.
