In-8, false title, title, 76 pp. 6 pl. paperback. Eighth edition, identical to the previous editions. Divided into three parts, this pamphlet describes the new photographic process, evoking the promotion of the invention, its genesis, and exposes the work of Daguerre, with 6 explanatory plates out of text. "From September (1839), thirty-nine editions, or reprints and translations followed one another in less than eighteen months (...). Thanks to the book, in a short time, the western world knew the name of Daguerre". In French in the text, 255. The original portrait has been replaced by a flying portrait. Faded paperback, spine missing, stains. Freckles, defects to the paper in fine with small marginal tears.
