MANUSCRIT. - LIÉNARD (F.). Catalog of mushrooms observed and - Lot 589
MANUSCRIT. - LIÉNARD (F.). Catalog of mushrooms observed and collected in the department of Meuse and appearing in the collection of Mr. F. Liénard. (Verdun), 1855-1880. In-4, half havana morocco with corners, superlibris Liénard-Bardot at the foot of the spine (Binding of the beginning of the XXth century). Unique collection of 3 pp. of handwritten index and 354 original mycological watercolors, classified by categories, some with two subjects, some cut and pasted. Most often, each variety of mushroom includes the French and Latin name, as well as the place and date of picking, sometimes with more general remarks on location or culinary virtues. The places mentioned are for example Blois de Baleycourt, Bois Saint-Michel, Gare de Verdun, Cimetière de Verdun, Chantier Lagrue, etc. The name of another collector, Trémeau, who, like Liénard, was a member of the Société philomatique de Verdun, sometimes appears. Jean-Félix Liénard (1812-1894 ?), archaeologist and mycologist, at one time president of the Verdun museum commission, is the author of a Dictionnaire topographique du département de la Meuse, 1872. Slight foxing.
