MANUSCRIT. - LEUBA (Fritz). Monograph of the genus morchella - Lot 588
MANUSCRIT. - LEUBA (Fritz). Monograph of the genus morchella treated from the historical, botanical and chemical point of view. Neuchatel, 1875. In-folio, half brown morocco (modern binding). Title, (1) f. of dedication to L. Chapuis (botanist pharmacist), (1) f. of foreword, (16) pp. 9 watercolor plates of various sizes. Manuscript dedicated to the morel. In his foreword, Leuba, author of the treatise Les champignons comestibles et les espèces vénéneuses (1890), announces his ambition: "to take each tribe, each genus separately to study it in detail, and I believe that this would be the best way to arrive at a figurative inventory of all the individuals that make up the vast family of mushrooms. Elegantly composed, the manuscript opens with general considerations, embellished with footnotes, and followed by the description of 8 species of morels, each illustrated with a watercolor representing the stages of growth, several views and a section; the last watercolor represents small sections and tiny elements (mycelinium, germination...). Small restorations to some leaves, soiling and slight folds. Not in Mykolibri.
