ROTI-COCHON. - Puerile and moral civility. Dijon, Claude Mic - Lot 420
ROTI-COCHON. - Puerile and moral civility. Dijon, Claude Michard, (1689). Paris, Morgand, 1890. In-12, paperback, uncut. False title, title, pp. ix to xxxi, 35 pp, 36 pp. Reprint of two pedagogical texts published in Dijon in the 17th century, intended for learning to read. This reprint was established by Georges Vicaire, according to the only copy kept at the Arsenal library, which contains both texts. They are illustrated with 58 woodcuts, gastronomic images, 39 for Roti-Cochon and 19 for Civility, and the examples are often taken from this same register. Dominique Courvoisier, in his study "Recherches sur l'origine du Roti-cochon", Bulletin du bibliophile, 1982, III, p. 375, attributes this text to Simon Girault. The edition was printed at 30 copies on large Hollande paper, and 300 on small paper, of which 220 were put in the trade, n° 71. Spine partly detached. Vicaire, 752 - Bitting, 599 - Livres en bouche, 93.
