PARMENTIER. - NEUFCHÂTEAU (François de). Extract from the Su - Lot 408
PARMENTIER. - NEUFCHÂTEAU (François de). Extract from the Supplement to Mr. Parmentier's treatise on corn. (Paris), widow Huzard s.d. (1817). In-12, modern bradel paperback. 24 pp. First edition of this treatise in favor of maize, a tribute to the work of Parmentier who wished to perfect its cultivation as early as 1784. François de Neufchâteau (1750-1828) was a precocious poet: at the age of fifteen, he published his first book of poetry, Poésies diverses (1765), which was noticed by Voltaire. He was then an active politician: he created in 1791 the first Ministry of the Interior, the first Salon de l'Industrie (as a member of the Institute and President of the Agricultural Society of Paris), and the Louvre Museum. As an agronomist, he published several works concerning agriculture and household economy.
