Collection of armoured books by Doctor Eugène Olivier
Eugène Olivier (1881-1964) was Olympic fencing champion in 1908, Doctor of Science and Associate Professor of Anatomy in 1923; he is also known among bibliophiles for his monumental Manuel de l'amateur de reliures armoriées françaises in 30 volumes (Paris, Bosse, 1924-1938), co-written with Georges Hermal and Captain Robert de Roton.
It was then enriched by his son, Professor Claude Olivier, with works of modern literature and illustrations. Friend of Henri Mondor, like his father, Claude Olivier was himself a member and president of bibliophile societies.
