CALLIGRAPHY PANEL (LEVHA) Signed Nuri, Ottoman Turkey, 19th or early 20th century In jali thuluth and thuluth in black ink on paper: "God! There is no God but Him. My Lord and Lord of the two worlds. Muhammad is my prophet. Peace and blessings be upon him". Framed. Size: 37 x 50 cm This composition is a copy of a panel (levha) by the great calligrapher Mustafa Rakim (d. 1826), master of Sultan Ahmud II (r. 1808-39). The original work, now in the Sakip Sabanci Museum (inv. 130-0073), was also copied by Mahmud II and hangs behind the minbar in front of the apse of Saint Sophia in Istanbul.
