Important ritual head, Bafo, Cameroon, southwest region. Wood with worn patina, pigments, rattan strips. Very "expressionist" sculpture, with raised eyes and a wide-open mouth revealing rattan teeth. The mouth is hollowed out up to the nape of the neck, open at the back of the skull. Beautiful patina showing blue or white pigments. Slightly missing, cracks. H = 41 cm Provenance: Charles RATTON
