The President of the French Republic, Gaston Doumergue, mentioned one day, in front of André Citroën and Georges-Marie Haardt, the usefulness of an automobile link between the African colonies and Madagascar. This was enough for the explorer and the engineer to realize the Croisière Noire project. This expedition required more than a year of preparation and aroused great enthusiasm among the public, scientists, businessmen and artists. Eight autochenilles travelled more than 28,000 km across Africa. The book retraces this human, technological and historical epic. Edition of 2500 copies. One of 500 copies on Madagascar paper.
