CHINA, Qian Long period (1736-1795). Sculpture representing Amitayus seated in vajrasana on a base adorned with a drapery falling to the front and tied at the corners. The bodhisattva, dressed in a dhoti and adorned with numerous jewels, joins his hands in dhyana mudra. The serene and gentle face is topped with a bun and a high crown. Gilded bronze. Height: 18.3 cm. Dimensions of the base: 10.3 cm X 8.5 cm. The mandorla and the vase are missing.
