Michel BERARD (1933 - 2020)
After studying at the Orleans School of Fine Arts, he attended the Ateliers libres de l'Académie de la grande Chaumière in Paris from 1957 to 1959.
Initially a painter, he quickly became interested in tapestry. He collaborates with the TABARD workshops in Aubusson, then continues his improvement in Bayeux. He illustrates many books to finally devote himself to his true passion, the sculpture with monumental character. Many galleries devote personal exhibitions to him:
Working also for international commissions, Michel BERARD systematically wins great success and press tributes during his exhibitions in Montreal (1969), Stockholm (1975), Düsseldorf (1973) or Madrid (1992). The public commissions are numerous and it is possible to discover his works at the Maison de la Culture of Orleans, in the housing estate of Saint Jean de Braye, but especially in Saint Quentin en Yvelines with the majestic aluminium sculpture of 5 meters or near the ring road at the Porte de la Chapelle with his famous COLUMN 1986 in concrete of 10 meters high.
Today his works are present in many public and private collections.
